BALTIMORE, MDSt. John Properties, Inc. has bolstered its in-house Multifamily Construction Division with the hiring of six professionals to support anticipated growth and oversee more than 1,500 multifamily units currently in the development pipeline. The recent additions include veteran construction professionals Lauren Shank, Senior Project Manager; Chaz White, Senior Superintendent; and Connor Cummins, Project Manager. The group is led by Vice President Michael Poirot, and will oversee multifamily development throughout Maryland initially, before expanding the division’s scope across the country where St. John Properties has a presence.

“We have assembled an extremely strong group of professionals with diversified skillsets and perspectives to drive our immediate growth,” stated Poirot. “St. John Properties has perfected its vertically-integrated business model, and the Multifamily Construction division represented a natural evolution of what has worked so well for the company for more than five decades.”

St. John Properties, through various joint venture partnerships, has investments in more than 3,000 residential units, including The Berkleigh at Greenleigh in Middle River, MD, and the Aspen at Melford Town Center in Bowie, MD. The Berkleigh is a 317-unit multifamily community, while the Aspen at Melford Town Center, which opened last year, features 388 luxury apartment homes. Both communities are LEED Gold certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, offer exceptional amenities, and were developed in partnership with Somerset Companies LLC.

The partnership is also developing Melford Mansions, a eight-building multifamily project within the 466-acre Melford Town Center mixed-use business community. Upon completion, Melford Mansions will include 435 modern studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment homes designed with high-end finishes, resort-style amenities, and LEED sustainability standards, as well as a clubhouse. The first four buildings are expected to deliver in late 2026.

The group’s multifamily development pipeline also includes the Aspen at Greenleigh, further complementing the continued growth of the Greenleigh mixed-use community.

According to Poirot, having an in-house multifamily construction division has been a priority for St. John Properties, based on the company’s long-term confidence in the asset class and the desire to establish consistency and control expenses during the construction process. This strategy leverages the company’s existing sub-contractor relationships to realize synergies and efficiencies in the multifamily market.

Lauren Shank will handle a range of construction and site management activities, including subcontractor negotiations. She brings more than 13 years of construction management experience to her new role, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Civil Infrastructure Systems from the University of Delaware.

Chaz White has more than 13 years of experience in the construction management sector. White’s role includes overseeing day-to-day activities on construction job sites, managing the work of subcontractors, and maintaining budget and schedule protocols. He earned an Associate of Arts degree in Business & Commerce from Saddleback College.

Connor Cummins’ responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and oversight of a range of activities needed during the construction lifecycle. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Penn State University.

Additional Multifamily Construction Division team members include Charles Draughn, Field Engineer; Irvin Johnson, Foreman; and Noah Johnston, Assistant Project Manager.
