CIS Secure Expands Footprint at Ashburn Crossing with 10,000 Square Foot Lease

Secure communication and defense services company, which has maintained operations at Ashburn Crossing since 2017, will now occupy 75,750 square feet of space, and is expected to add 15 new employees annually to its current 170-person workforce

ASHBURN, VACIS Secure, a secure communication and defense services company, is expanding its presence in Loudoun County, Virginia with a new 10,080 square foot lease with St. John Properties, Inc. at Ashburn Crossing. The company, which has maintained its corporate headquarters within the 80-acre business community at the intersection of Gloucester Parkway (VA Route 28) and Loudoun County Parkway (VA Route 607) since 2017, will now occupy 75,720 square feet of space. Danny Foit of St. John Properties represented the landlord and Terry Amling with Lincoln Property Company represented the tenant in this transaction.

CIS Secure, which employs approximately 450 people company-wide, currently leases 45,120 square feet of space at 21100 Ashburn Crossing Drive and 20,520 square feet of space at 21050 Ashburn Crossing Drive. The new 10,080 square foot space, which CIS Secure will occupy later this year, is located at 21140 Ashburn Crossing Drive, a single-story, 45,120 square foot flex/R&D building. 21140 Ashburn Crossing Drive earned a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for its sustainability and green features which save energy resources and positively impact air quality, ventilation, lighting, and thermal comfort.

Strang adds that the new space was needed to handle CIS Secure’s year-over-year growth, “typically expanding its production workforce by 5 to 10 percent” to handle new business opportunities.

St. John Properties initiated development activities on Ashburn Crossing in 2017, the business community is presently composed of nine buildings totaling more than 350,000 square feet of flex/R&D space. In 2018, the project was recognized as the best R&D/Industrial/Flex project by NAIOP Northern Virginia, the region’s leading organization for developers, owners and related professionals in office, industrial and mixed-use real estate. Ashburn Crossing is situated less than three miles from VA Route 267 (Dulles Toll Road), four miles from Washington Dulles International Airport, and 25 miles from Washington, D.C.
