Galliano Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar Opens at Maple Lawn

Jamie Kujawski, Lino DiMeo and Brian Hovermale — with collective experience owning or managing 15 Maryland restaurants — team together for new location at 8110 Maple Lawn Blvd.

BALTIMORE, MD (July 21, 2020) – Galliano Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar, a “New York City trendy” restaurant conceived and executed by the team of Jamie Kujawski, Lino DiMeo and Brian Hovermale — who collectively bring experience with 14 local restaurants to the venture — opened within 4,700 square feet of space on the ground floor of 8110 Maple Lawn Boulevard in Howard County, MD. Featuring a 1,200 square foot patio space creating an indoor/outdoor dining environment, the restaurant seats approximately 120 patrons and is open for lunch and dinner. Bill Holzman, Vice President, Retail Leasing for St. John Properties represented the landlord in this transaction.

“We consider Maple Lawn the most compelling, attractive and energetic mixed-use community in the Baltimore-Washington corridor, and our team aspired to present a highly-differentiated Italian dining experience that embodies and complements each of those elements,” explained Jamie Kujawski, Managing Partner of the group. “Local residents and businesspeople working within the mixed-use community can expect a high-energy, eclectic environment with a distinctive vibe designed to reflect an atmosphere most-commonly associated with a fashionable restaurant in the heart of New York City.”

The menu offerings extend from classic Italian entrées including Fettuccini Carbonara, Baked Lasagna and Chicken Parmigiana to seafood dishes including Mediterranean Branzino, Shrimp Scampi and Salmon Piccata. The “Signature Meatball” dish consists of a 12-ounce dry-aged meatball topped with house made ricotta cheese. American-style favorites such as Grilled Pork Chop, eight different brick-oven pizza selections and salads selections ranging from Mediterranean to Grilled Chicken and Pear, round out a diverse menu. Fresh fish, shipped from throughout the world, will be delivered to the restaurant on a daily basis and ricotta gnocchi and pasta will be freshly made at the restaurant.

Among the build-out highlights of Galliano Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar is the “horseshoe bar area” that bows out into six tabletop arrangements and a glass NanaWall that visually connects the interior space to the outside patio which is resplendent with outside tables protected by bright red umbrellas. On most evenings, the walls are swung open to create an open-air environment, which facilitates the flow of fresh, outside air into the interior spaces.

The management team brings tremendous depth, gleaned from owning or managing the operations of several high-profile restaurant concepts throughout the Maryland area. Jamie Kujawski is part of the ownership group of Rico’s Tacos and Tequila Bar in Annapolis and was involved with Yellowfin Steak & Fish House and Osteria 177. Lino DiMeo, who will oversee the kitchen operations of Galliano Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar, founded the Italian restaurant chain Squistio Pizza & Pasta that operates seven locations across Maryland and Virginia. The team also owns and oversees the operations of three Lima’s Chicken locations. Brian Hovermale will manage day-to-day operations and, together with DiMeo, are also part of the Carpaccio Tuscan Kitchen & Wine Bar ownership group based in Annapolis, Maryland.

“We intend to be the complete opposite of the traditional Italian restaurant,” Kujawski added. “Instead, we will quickly elevate and establish our ‘see and be seen’ brand which blends perfectly with the upscale environment created at Maple Lawn. We have extensively studied the market, and there are no comparable restaurants that match the vision we have for Galliano. It is intended as the obvious place to dine when staying at the on-site hotel, as well as the energetic spot for happy hour or a power lunch.”

Kujawski also adds that, in the near future, the restaurant will offer free rides exclusively to members of the Maple Lawn community utilizing GEM electric vehicles. “This is a fun twist to make us as easily accessible as possible for residents and businesspeople,” he said.

The group also intends to open another Galliano restaurant this fall in Anne Arundel County at The Village at Waugh Chapel.

Maple Lawn is being developed by Master Developer Greenebaum Enterprises along with St. John Properties and is located at the intersection of MD Route 29 and MD Route 216 in Fulton, Maryland. “This restaurant is a perfect fit for the ‘new urban’ mixed-use atmosphere that was initially envisioned for Maple Lawn by Greenebaum Enterprises,” stated Bill Holzman of St. John Properties. “Adding destination-style restaurants such as Galliano Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar to the tenant mix achieves our goal of providing a first-class dining amenity to the commercial district’s tenants as well as the entire community. “Based on the experience, stated objectives and proven success of the ownership team, we expect Galliano to quickly establish a recognized brand identify and emerge as a strong traffic generator for Maple Lawn.”
