BALTIMORE, MD (December 29, 2020) – St. John Properties, Inc., a Baltimore-based full-service commercial real estate development and investment company, received one individual and two project honors at the recent NAIOP Maryland “Awards of Excellence” Program. The biennial competition recognizes the innovative achievements of regional commercial real estate development companies, as well as professionals, throughout central Maryland. NAIOP Maryland is the local trade association for developers, owners, investors and professionals engaged in the commercial office, industrial, retail and mixed-use real estate industries.

St. John Properties’ 187 Harry S Truman Parkway was named “Best LEED office building.” The five-story, 128,317 square foot Class ‘A’ office building is located within Annapolis Corporate Park in Annapolis. 813 Pinnacle Drive was named “Best LEED Warehouse.” The 34,560 square foot single-story flex/R&D building is located at BWI Tech Park near BWI Airport in Linthicum. And Tom Pilon, Senior Vice President of Development for St. John Properties, received the “Distinguished Merit Award” from the Chapter.

Both 187 Harry S Truman Parkway and 813 Pinnacle Drive have earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), which recognizes companies that develop and maintain healthy buildings using materials and processes that contribute to an eco-friendly environment. Since initiating its LEED program in 2009, St. John Properties has developed more than 4.9 million square feet of LEED Gold, Silver or Certified space encompassing 81 buildings in its nationwide portfolio.

“Many organizations are making real estate decisions based on the health and wellbeing of their employees,” stated Larry Maykrantz, President of St. John Properties. “These two NAIOP Maryland honors reflect our leadership and commitment to develop and maintain healthy buildings that address the needs of our clients and positively impact the surrounding environment.”

The Distinguished Merit Award is presented to an individual that has been a true difference-maker for the NAIOP Maryland Chapter. As current chair of the Legislative Committee, Tom Pilon helps guide a group of professionals to establish a strong and clear voice for the commercial real estate community, and consistently formulate and present NAIOP Maryland’s stance on key legislative issues.

“Tom is a strong leader that has invested a considerable amount of time and energy to NAIOP Maryland and we are extremely proud of his continuing efforts,” Maykrantz said. “He is extremely well regarded for his contributions benefitting companies and individuals with real estate interests in Maryland.”
