BALTIMORE (January 6, 2012) – St. John Properties, Inc., a Baltimore-based real estate development and management company, has promoted Sharon Akers to Vice President, Corporate Relations. Ms. Akers, who has worked for the company since 2007, also functions as Executive Director of the Edward St. John Foundation, Inc.

Ms. Akers will continue her role of overseeing the company’s involvement in and sponsorship of activities that support local communities, seeking partnerships with non-profit and philanthropic-based organizations as well as forming and strengthening relationships with other groups and organizations associated with St. John Properties. In her position with the Edward St. John Foundation, she will continue to manage the day-to-day functions of the Foundation dedicated to supporting and assisting formal education programs through the high school level. Since its formation, The Edward St. John Foundation has contributed, pledged and gifted more than $43 million to a variety of not-for-profit organizations in communities in which the company maintains a business presence.

Ms. Akers, who earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland College of Journalism, resides in Clarksville, MD.
