BALTIMORE, MD (June 1, 2021) — Blinds To Go recently signed a lease with St. John Properties, Inc. for 26,520 square feet of production, distribution, and office space at Arundel Overlook near Baltimore Washington International (BWI) Airport in Anne Arundel County. The new facilty, located at 941 Mercantile Drive, will employ approximately 50 staff members, and serve as the company’s third manufacturing hub in the United States. Blinds To Go produces and installs a complete line of window coverings for both residential and commercial applications, and operates additional factories in New Jersey and Montreal, Canada as well as approximately 40 retail showrooms in eight states throughout the country. Angelo Munafo of St. John Properties represented the landlord and Spence Daw of NAI KLNB represented the tenant in this transaction.

Blinds To Go intends to fabricate exterior shutters at this location, with plans to expand the breadth of the production facility in the future. Founded in 1951, the company markets products including aluminum, wood and faux wood blinds; solar, roller and pleated shades and specialty products such as drapery, panel tracks and skylight shades. The company also offers a “Shop-At-Home-Services” model in which a Blinds To Go design consultant personally visits a residential or business location to review product types and samples, and to discuss pricing options. Once all product selections are determined, the company arranges for product delivery and installation with third-party vendors. All custom blinds and shades are backed by a lifetime company guarantee.

“As individuals have spent more time at home during the pandemic, they’ve recognized opportunities to upgrade their homes and apartments, this has translated into a boom in the window coverings industry across the board,” explained Renee Gurganus, Executive Director of the Window Coverings Association of America, a Wilmington, North Carolina trade group with more than 600 members. “After initially being fearful about their industry, the past twelve months have instead been among the most active periods ever experienced. People are tired of looking at the same window coverings day after day and want something new, different and uplifting.”
