More than 30 employees moving to 18,000 square foot space in early 2025.

BALTIMORE, MD (September 23, 2024) – Neu-Ion, Inc., a privately-owned company providing turn-key water purification systems and solutions to companies throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, has announced its intentions to move the company’s corporate headquarters to Windsor Corporate Park in Baltimore County. The group signed a lease with St. John Properties, Inc. for 18,000 square feet of space within the 86-acre business community located off Security Boulevard, and expects to relocate more than 30 employees to 2555 Lord Baltimore Drive early next year. St. John Properties’ Claire Cobert represented the landlord and Matt Curran, Dan Hudak, and Andrew Meeder of MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services represented the tenant in this lease transaction.

Founded in 1991 by Lee Heikkinen and Robert Housaman, the company is now second generation following its acquisition by Lee Heikkinen’s three children – Leslie Crotty, Kevin Heikkinen, and Krista Nazelrod – in 2019.  Neu-Ion serves the biotechnology, data center, education, healthcare, industrial, and pharmaceutical industries with efficient technologies and customized solutions that meet their customer’s water purification needs. Neu-Ion provides turnkey services including the design, installation, and maintenance of complete systems. Products include deionization and ion exchange, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet technology, water filtration and water softening systems.

“Multiple industry sectors depend on pure water quality, with a portion that require solutions to meet strict regulatory water quality standards monitored by certified industry groups,” explained Krista Nazelrod, Neu-Ion’s Managing Partner. “Data centers, a sector that expanded quickly in the Northern Virginia area and now into Maryland, in particular need purified water for clean stream humidification. Other industries with clean laboratory and manufacturing environments that produce chemicals, food, and electronics have highly specified requirements as well.”

“When initiating our corporate headquarters search, the number one priority was remaining within close proximity of our current location to minimize disruptions of our team and avoid losses,” Nazelrod said. “It was also imperative to select a building served by adequate water line dimensions to satisfy the stringent needs for our regeneration plant, as we house the only Pure Water Regeneration Plant in the State of Maryland. In addition, we wanted a highly-flexible space that could support multiple uses including our front office and management team, light assembly, training, and equipment storage. Our operations also required high ceilings and dock doors to handle our daily equipment deliveries, and Windsor Corporate Park delivers each of these needs.”

Neu-Ion has come nearly full circle from the company’s original roots at Windsor Corporate Park’s 2624 Lord Baltimore Drive, which is located less than one-mile from its new space in the single-story, 42,000 square foot flex/R&D building.

Windsor Corporate Park consists of 12 buildings, comprising nearly 450,000 square feet of commercial office and flex/R&D space, including a retail component featuring multiple fast-casual restaurants. The business community is situated two miles from Interstate 695 (Baltimore Beltway), four miles from Interstate 70 and approximately 10 miles from downtown Baltimore and BWI Airport.

“Companies like Neu-Ion and St. John Properties who have been in Woodlawn for many years recognize Windsor Corporate Park as the most efficient location to service clients throughout the Baltimore region,” stated Matt Lenihan, Senior Vice President, Leasing for St. John Properties. “We very much appreciate the opportunity to work with Neu-Ion to deliver a high quality headquarters location.”
