The Aspen at Melford Town Center Recognized at the MBIA’s 2024 Awards of Excellence
The prestigious Maryland Building Industry Association’s Awards of Excellence program recognizes both individual leaders and outstanding projects in the home building industry.
The Land Development Council Awards offers recognition of projects that demonstrate excellence in residential and mixed-use land development. The program is sponsored by MBIA’s Land Development Council and awards are presented at MBIA’s annual Awards of Excellence.
Awards of excellence are presented to a community of the year as well as projects deserving of awards of excellence. These awards are widely recognized as the area’s most prestigious in the land development field, and are used to identify and promote best practices and professionals.

The LEED Gold certified Aspen at Melford Town Center contains 388 luxury multifamily apartment units, and is situated within the Melford Town Center mixed-use community in Bowie, Maryland.
The Aspen features oversized studio, one-, and two-bedroom living spaces, as well as a full complement of on-site amenities. Sustainable features include EV charging stations and a 32,500 square foot solar panel installation, which provides more than 38% of the community’s electricity.
The $150 million project represents the fourth joint venture partnership between full-service commercial real estate company St. John Properties and Somerset Companies, a developer of mixed-use communities.
